What is a Hygienist / Therapist?
As a Therapist they provide treatments similar to a Dentist. They can carry out routine examinations, take x rays if required and produce a treatment plan for a patient. They carry out fillings and can advise if a patient needs to see a Dentist for more complex treatments such as Crowns, Bridges, Implants and Extractions.
As a Hygienist they specialise in preventative oral care, with their focus on ensuring you keep your natural teeth for as long as possible.
Our Hygienist can advise you on the latest brushing techniques, Interdental cleaning, diet and overall health of the mouth.
In the UK the number one cause of tooth loss in adults is gum disease.
Here at Southam Dental we take your gum health very seriously and our Hygienist is on hand to help you with all your oral hygiene needs.
It has been well documented that your general health can also be affected by your oral hygienist and cause complications if your oral hygiene routine is poor.
Keeping your teeth and gums healthy on your own no matter how diligent you are will only remove plaque and calculus to a certain extent. Having a good Oral Health regime at home is so important to reduce the risk of gum inflammation and cavities.
Our Hygienist can also see you as a Direct Access patient if you are not a member of our Practice
